Fit Filipino (FITFIL) Movement Brings Fitness Leaders To The Next Level Fitness Science Series.

Last week, I was invited to attend a Filipino (FITFIL) Movement in Whitespace Manila in Makati. The event brought fitness leaders and practitioners to the next level Fitness Science Series.

FitFil National Fitness Movement partners up with Del Monte Fit ‘n Right Active for “Fitness Science Series: National Fitness Leaders Certification Program”. The program aims to produce the new breed of science-based fitness practitioners and professionals.

FitFil’s National Fitness Leaders Certification Program is a training course designed to standardize the basic scientific and medical knowledge necessary for every health, fitness, and wellness practitioner in the Philippines. Gathering 200 trainers, enthusiasts, and professionals from different fitness discipline and practice, this certification program conducted by Coach Jim Saret is the country’s biggest assembly of fitness leaders we know today.

Given the large amount of attendees, we were divided into groups of four (4) and rotated around the venue per lecture - which made it easier for everyone to focus, to practice and to understand each topic.

Coming from a recent injury, it was a perfect time learning more about the importance of overall safety and performance. The topics that were discussed during the event were: The Effects of Exercise on the Heart, Musculoskeletal Injury Management, Hands-only CPR, Biomechanical Movement Assessment, and The Advantages and Disadvantages of Various Beverages in Fitness Performance.

The certification program offered topics that was led by the Philippine Heart Association (PHA), the Philippine Academy of Rehabilitation Medicine (PARM), the Nutritionist-Dietitians' Association of the Philippines (NDAP), and the Athletic Performance Enhancement Training, Inc. (APEX), all gathered together in one event with the goal of taking the fitness knowledge of these trainers to the next level.

About FitFil and Fit n Right ACTIVE partnership

Fit Filipino (FitFil) Movement, founded by Coach Jim and Toni Saret, is the Philippines’ biggest nationwide health, fitness, and wellness movement with a mission to be the primary driving force in helping the entire country fight lifestyle diseases by getting the whole country to become stronger, fitter and healthier.

Fit ‘n Right Active aims to help Filipino exercisers and fitness enthusiasts become fitter, faster. Rather than drinking other beverages during exercise, drinking Fit ‘n Right Active not only rehydrates, but also helps reduce fat. It is the first 2-in-1 sports drink that has electrolytes to rehydrate and 900mg of L-Carnitine to help reduce up to 2x more fat vs. the leading brand. It comes in four refreshing flavors: Mixed Berries, Blueberry Grape, Citrus, and Green Grape.

“Del Monte vision has always been Health and Wellness, and Fit ‘n Right in particular has the goal of helping Filipinos become fitter so that they can lead a fuller life.  This is what brought together our partnership with FitFil.” said Aldellyn Po, Group Product Manager of Del Monte Beverages. “Fit ‘n Right Active and FitFil share one goal for the fitness community - and that is to strengthen the knowledge and experience of the fitness leaders in the country, effectively helping all fitness enthusiasts and exercisers become their fittest selves in a safe way. At the core of Fit n Right Active is the science behind the drink that is proven to effectively rehydrate the body and while helping reduce body fat.”

Fit ‘n Right Active is set to build its community involving fitness leaders, influencers and communities. The brand will help these communities achieve their fitness goals. This community is grounded on the values that anywhere there is a solid ground, we move and be active.

Thank you Fit 'n Right for the insightful event! It felt really good being part of a group with a common goal - to get fit and stay fit.

Daytrip in Kyoto

Going to Japan, we decided to book flights from Manila to Narita then Osaka to Manila for cheaper fare – which was a good idea mfor us to be able to maximize our trip.

We stayed in Osaka for 4 days, without much on our itinerary but Universal Studios. A friend of mine mentioned that there are a lot of Instagrammable places in Kyoto, some of them are Fushimi Inari Taisha and the Arashiyama Bamboo Forest.

Some of my colleagues didn’t want to wake up early to visit the province, but of course, me on the other hand wanted to make the most of my visit. Emon and I were supposed to wake up at 6am and leave our Airbnb by 7am to be able at least visit 3 attractions before the sun goes down – but of course, I woke up later than planned because I had troubles sleeping the night before.

We left at 9 AM, and traveled by train for more or less than an hour and a half. Our first stop was Fushimi Inari Taisha, which is known for the thousands of vermilion torii gates. It is dedicated to Inari, called the Shinto God of Rice.

There are also food stalls located outside, which offers enticing food/delicasies. We decided to have our brunch there and just enjoy the place while at it.

Then we headed to Arashiyama, knowing that we could only afford one more stop before it gets dark.

It starts to get dark in Japan at 4 PM – make the most of your travel in the morning or while the sun is still out.

Walking to Arashiyama Bamboo Forest was somewhat like a short trek. We walked a little further, just to make sure that we at least reach the middle.

By the time we were done, it was getting dark and there weren’t much lights in Kyoto given that it is a province. So we had to rush to make sure that we don’t get lost.

The Kyoto trip was short but really worth it.

TIPS:
1. It is recommended that you visit these attractions on a weekday, which they say has lesser people than on weekends.

2. When taking photos in Fushimi Inari Taisha and Arashiyama Bamboo Forest – it gets really crowded and people come in waves (Yes, I’m making a Plants VS Zombies reference) for some reason. If you want a photo of yourself without anyone photobombing, try to wait a while until the path clears up - but make it quick because it might just be for a couple of seconds.

3. Or, you can just try different angles to cover them. ;)

If I get to travel to Japan in the near future, I will definitely stay longer in Kyoto. There are still more places I would like to visit, which include parks - because I’m such a sucker for parks most especially during Autumn.

Let me know your thoughts!

Smart Technology, Smart Living with Taiwan Excellence

Taiwan Excellence Day was held last June 15 - 16, 2018 in SMX Aura Convention Center, introducing a new batch of innovative products to the Filipino community.

The event kicks off with a forum entitled “Smart Technology, Smart Living.” - with the aim to address the needs of the Filipinos, and for them to be met through the help of technology. At the same time, it is there way to promote Taiwan as the Asian economic powerhouse with a vibrant image, culture, brands, and industries to enhance awareness and business cooperation with Philippine consumers and partners.

I was lucky to get close enough to understand the purpose, function and advantage of a couple of products that they offer. From connectivity solutions for households, offices, businesses, transportation to personal care products.

Two of my favorites under personal care were the Non Contact Thermomemter - which can help moms and dads get the temperature of their infant and/or toddler who can't sit still and the Opro9 SmartDiaper that is connected to a mobile application and informs you if it's time for a diaper change without actually touching it!

The brand also wants to expand their market, and what better way than to be in touch with lifestyle?
Taiwan Excellence also offers products for traveling, biking, swimming, gaming and photography.

During the event, ASUS also launched their new ROG notebooks, premium notebook devices, and latest additions to their smartphone line - the Zenfone 5 and Max Pro (M1).

A few of the speakers who came to support the event were Mr. Alfred Wang - Director of Economic Division from TECO, Mr. Jopson Li - President Director of PT. Atop, Mr. Anvey Factor - Head of Marketing from ASUS Philippines and Ms. Mary Grace Martinez - Product Manager from Gigabyte.

Lucky attendees also won some of the items that were presented during the event.
